Clay Style:Purple Eggplant Mud (Zi Qie Ni)(紫茄泥)
  • Purple Eggplant Mud 紫茄泥 :

Located on the southwest side of Huanglong Mountain, about 50 meters south of the main wellhead of Shaft No. 5, it is deposited in the Jiani ore layer, with a purple-brown appearance, oxidized water rust spots on the surface, and a slight bluish tint.

The material is hard and the cooked mud has good plasticity. The sand is relatively strong, and it is the high-quality pure mineral material of Huanglong Mountain Purple Clay. The firing temperature is generally about 1160-1180°C, and the shrinkage rate is about 6%.

  • Suitable tea :

This kind of mud is very rare and rare, and the tea is delicious, suitable for brewing: Oolong tea (light roasted series) is very good, Tieguanyin (medium roasted or heavy roasted series) is very good, various series of Pu'er tea.

  • The difference between Aged Purple Mud and Purple Eggplant Mud:
  1.  The raw materials of Aged Purple Mud and Purple Eggplant Mud are different. Aged purple mud is mainly made of purple mud ore and yellow mud ore, while purple eggplant mud is made of purple sand ore and eggplant mud ore. Therefore, the color and texture of aged purple mud and purple eggplant mud are different. The color of aged purple clay is purple-brown, fine texture, soft to the touch, high transparency, suitable for making kung fu tea sets. The color of purple eggplant mud is reddish brown, the texture is relatively hard, the hand feels heavy, and the permeability is relatively low. It is suitable for making tea and heat preservation appliances.
  2. The firing process of aged purple mud and purple eggplant mud is also different. The firing process of aged purple clay is relatively complicated, and it needs multiple high-temperature firing and low-temperature tempering to make the clay uniform and dense and achieve the best use effect. The purple eggplant mud is relatively simple, and only needs to be fired at a high temperature once. Therefore, the price of aged purple mud is relatively high, while purple eggplant mud is relatively cheap.
  3. The preservation methods of aged purple mud and purple eggplant mud are also different. Due to the high permeability and strong water absorption of aged purple mud, it needs to be washed and soaked in water regularly during storage to maintain its fine texture and high permeability. The purple eggplant mud has relatively low permeability and is not easy to absorb water. It only needs to be careful not to collide and drop when storing.
In short, although the aged purple clay and the purple eggplant clay are both purple sand clay, their raw materials, firing processes,  and preservation methods are different. Choosing the right purple sand mud needs to be decided according to your own needs and preferences.
